Spring is in the air and what better reason for a little celebration. Because we can all do with some festive vibes right now. Why not mark the start of a new season like the Italians do, with a delicious colomba? This traditional sweet bread can be found on many an Italian table at this time of the year. Made in the shape of a bird (colomba is Italian for dove), the colomba is based on the panettone recipe, with the addition of Piedmontese hazelnuts, almonds and candied orange peel.
We're thrilled to be offering a very unique Colomba. This Spring we're bringing you the Colomba from Baj, one of Milan's oldest and most renown confectioners. Since 1768 this family business has been famed for its confections, in particular its panettone and now also its Colomba. The extra large colomba Baj (1000g) is made of a 100-year-old mother dough that has risen for 40 hours, after which it is baked and rested upside down for another 8 hours. With its light and fluffy texture and rich flavour, it stands out from many other sweet breads out there. The ultimate centre piece for a Spring celebration. The colomba Baj comes with a 24-page booklet with historic images telling the story of Baj (text in Italian).
This item is suitable for vegetarians. Contains nuts.
